Hi, question for all you Delta Skymiles experts who have redeemed awards on United. I called Delta and had 2 x 40K Skymiles awards issued for travel on United. My itinerary: JFK-SFO-JFK on nonstop flights. These are 3-class aircraft. They issued my e-tickets and told me to call United directly for seat assignments since Delta doesn't have access to United seatmaps. Good enough. I called UA reservations, and, lo and behold, they assigned me and my buddy to seats 2AB on the outbound and 1AB on the return. Did someone make a mistake at Delta, or at United, or am I truly entitled to first class travel with my 40K award, even though this is a 3 class transcon? Thoughts? comments? Will UA figure this out at the airport and downgrade me? cheers.
