Thanks for everybody's advise, especially to SleepOverGreenland for his eye-opener, I will approach my flight exactly this way.

EK is no real alternative for me, beside intra-European flights I mostly travel C to the Far East and don't like to have my stopover right in the middle of the way. I used AF a lot in the past (had "rouge-status") which was fine in most occasions but chaotic if anything went wrong (which happened more and more mostly due to strikes). Completely stopped to give my business there, also to avoid CDG.
