Using firefox as primary browser does not mean you have to delete IE. Some pages, actually, don't work in firefox (fewer every day though). You can get an extension that lets you load IE pages in firefox tabs, but I just keep IE around (but as disabled as possible).
Firefox + NoScript is amazing. No pop-ups/unders, and almost all banners disappear (some are embedded).
