For a lot of corporate relocations, they give you this option. Buy one-way flights, ship the car. Or you can drive and get reimbursed for mileage + receipts. (Although the OP doesn't sound like he/she is describing a corp relo.)
I don't see anything about the OP doing a relo. (Maybe I missed something.)

Unless the drive is to see the west, I agree - flying may be better! Otherwise, driving 10-12 hours a day would easily be doable. That leaves plenty of time to rest, eat, take breaks, etc...

I have driven cross country (NV-RI) a few times alone in 5 days.

But don't set "must get to ____ before we stop" limits. If you "planned" to get to (say) El Paso, but only got to ABQ in 11 hours of driving - STOP! You do not need to drive those ___ hours tired!
