It's hard to prepare a decent meal in the air, I acknowledge, but SQ, QF, CX, AY, LH don't seem to have as big a problem as BA.

The only dishes which always come up trumps on BA are:

1) A basic cold salad - ie anything which hasn't been tampered with
2) Curry - but beware those sauces can disguise a multitude of sins
^ Likewise. I think it is fair to say that catering quality has been steadily falling over a number of years, so that the meal I had on my first longahaul J trip in 1996 would now be a significant improvement on the current F offering.

I was never overly impressed with the R catering, but then I suppose that wasn't really the point was it

From time to time some of the outstations can produce surprisingly pleasant meals (and I have enjoyed some very good meals ex BKK). You are right though in that QF, CX and AY and I would add TG and possibly even LH do it far better. Perhaps they are willing to pay the caterers a more realistic amount of money for a J/F meal?
