Driving out west is pretty relaxing (unless there's snow). With two people sharing the wheel, you can easily do 10-12 hours, if you just want to get there quick. There's 24 hours in a day, afterall, and you only need to sleep for about 8. That leaves 16 hours - plenty enough to eat, bath, whatever...
