Boarding pass privileges - too good to be true...

So, apparently it is in theory possible to get 50% off Pan Pacific hotel rooms. See here and here...

I have tried getting rooms for next month at both Pan Pac properties in KL/KLIA for several dates, and nothing is available. There is no conference, no formula 1, no public holiday, no special events, and plenty of availability at other all other leisure rates. So why not at this rate? The Pan Pac site says reservations are subject to availability, but does not mention limited availability of rooms at this rate, it just says "availability"

Has anyone had any joy getting this deal? Does SIA know that availability is cr*p and this promotion is unbookable unless 11 months in advance at an empty hotel? (lemme guess - great availability next February in Dhaka?)

What a totally pointless promotion...
