For the way to AMS, KL operates an all business class 737 from Houston to AMS, definitely more class and comfort than a 767 on KL or DL and a short hop from ATL...
On the other hand, I'm not sure that DL or KL's J products on the 763s are so bad that I would make a connection in DTW on NW to get back to ATL and arrive 1.5 hours later than the KL/DL nonstops...AMS is such a great airport anyway that a 4 hour transit there most of the time is actually quite a pleasure.....
