Why not a (constructive?) suggestion?

I can see that AC would want to implement the no through checking on lower fares and/or for non-status customers. At the lowest fares around, there should not be any real need/expectative of service.

OTOH, this sort of things invariably pisses off "premium" customers. Who may end up with separate tickets for a variety of reasons other than shopping for the lowest fare. And what we invariably see with AC is the lowest common denominator winning unfortunately.

But why not make through checking an SE/E/*G benefit? Would be a nice way for them to have it both ways, wouldn't it?

(Might do the same with pets/guns in cabin too BTW. )
