I haven't driven in Cyprus, but I travel to countries that drive on the left a lot. For me, there are only three things to remember: the passenger is always beside the "ditch." The next thing is to be aware when you're turning left; you're instinct is to pull to the right hand side (you should be on the left). Don't be afraid to drive close to the median line. I have seen people who are experience driving on the right hand side drive way too close to the side of the road.
I have found that if I have a question about insurance in foreign countries, the folks at the Hertz international desk clear things up for me.
