I asked AP yesterday that since they won't check my bags through on a Star Alliance carrier why don't they issue AP Reward ticket+ paid tickets on the same PNR and ticket. They said they couldn't do it.
If AC wants to become the defacto TA for me-- I don't mind booking the tickets with them but they have to be able to deliver the product-- eg combine a AP ticket with a paid ticket, or combine a cheap ticket in EU with a H class to say LHR/CDG/FRA Before they can do this they should not implement such policies. It seems people using AP reward tickets as part of their trip will have the most trouble.
It appears that I'll need to carry passport photos ( in case a visa is required),passport with more pages etc when I do my international travel as I'll have to go out through passport control, get my passport stamped, pay the departure taxes and then come back with the luggage rechecked!!!
I can see the point between alliances but why this complication for Star Alliance?
