Interestingly, US has 12 RJ's per day on the route. Maybe they are just hoping to empty out those aircraft so that they can seek a federal subsidy on the route.

My actual travel time is from Chandler to North Tucson, so it is shorter than from downtown to downtown. I do it about 3 times per year and never during rush hour. So, the drive would be longer for many people.

Interestingly on this subject, there was a great article in the AZ Republic yesterday with a very large graphic comparing the cost of flying or driving to about 10 locations from PHX. The article is here: http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...drive0517.html

All cities were much cheaper to drive to and from, rather than fly sometimes by a factor of 3 with longer transit times necessary for flying in many cases. That's just more data that US chooses to ignore.
