JS brings up a great point re: the center seat. As a non-parent, I wasn't going to suggest what he said as I didn't want to endure the holier-than-thou parents' rationalization.

I'm a parent of a 4.5 and a 2.5 and I'll say it. BUY YOUR SQUIRMY 16-MONTH OLD A SEAT!!!!!

There is NOTHING WORSE than an overgrown baby (anything older than 12 months) with parents who do not realize how RUDE it is to do that. The airline needs to change the rules. Are you giving up the aisle or the window? Or are you going to be one of those parents that tries to make sure the LAST EMPTY SEAT on the plane is your and scare off the poor soul with that seat to find something farther back???
