This is a very sore subject for me. I usually don't check bags, but every so often will have too much to bring in my carry on. On 3 different occassions over the last 2 years, I have had bags that AA says weighed 53, 54, and 51 pounds, respectively. I am EXP. On the first two, the agents would not waive the baggage charge. I could not take out any more to put in my carry on backpack, because it doesn't fit under the seat in front of me if I do. The third time, the agent gave me the riot act on how she was doing me a huge favor because she said she should charge me. I told her I wanted credit for the hundreds of flights I had came well below the weight limit. She said she would make an one-time exception and not charge me. All of these were on "A" fares. All of them exhibit a real attitude. They're lucky I don't have weights and measures inspect their scales.
