1st Trip to Kona -- looking for advice

So it's almost more of an MR, but I'll be on the ground for 48 hours and want to pack it with some snorkeling and maybe hiking near the live volcano. (is that even possible?)

For anyone who's been there, what would you recommend to definitely not miss -- assuming I've got the time. And if you've done some snorkeling there, is there anything comparable to Hanauma Bay near Honalulu -- that's some of the best easy snorkeling for kids....oh yes and I'm bringing my 10 year old daughter.

Thanks for any advice -- leaving over the Memorial Day holiday.
