Totally agree with the case of the rapidly disappearing AV guides. Customers for some reason, love to take them off the aircraft. As a crew member, it's frustrating when limited ground time doesn't allow for an individual seat pocket uplift, but the programming became so diverse, it was deemed more beneficial to have a stand alone guide. Fortunately, all aircraft in the fleet will have Thales AVOD system, thus eliminating the need for paper guides. Perhaps though, some very generalized movie guide could be placed in the back of the enRoute mag.
The idea is that as the Thales system goes system wide the entertainment Guide will become more of an entertainment magazine. You're right though- with the AVOD system, there is no real need for a paper guide. But we could almost say the same thing for TV guides with the amount of info now available on TV systems - and yet the paper guides still exist. For the time being, paper is still easier to read than a computer screen/monitor.
