SkyMiles are like a currency which can be traded in for only a specific range of goods.
There is no indication that there is any likelihood that the range of goods it can be traded for is going to increase.
Thus, inevitably, as more and more of it is issued, the currency will suffer inflation. This will take the form of devaluation (more miles for the same award) or rationing (less availability to get awards, therefore more unused currency) or, most likely, a combination of the two.
I do not see why this is hard to understand, unless some of you still believe in the tooth fairy.
