Hey, when its 90 degrees outside, do you leave your car running all day long while you're at work so its nice and cool when you get in to drive home? Or do you save the fuel costs at your own discomfort?
I've been on several flights delayed on the tarmac, without benefit of A/C, in which I'd gladly pay $10 more for the fare if it assured me of a comfortable wait. Sitting in a cramped, hot, stuffy plane that's going nowhere... that's not a good start to a trip. And it takes quite a while before you regain a feeling of normalcy, if you ever do. Quite possibly you're going to be feeling sticky for the duration of the flight.

With your car, you can at least roll the windows down and at least equalize conditions inside & out. Until they let us open the windows on an MD80 or CRJ (the two planes I seem most-likely to be stuck in without A/C), I'll vote for spending the money on a bit more fuel and run the A/C.
