I found this 'information' in the current edition of the TG Worldwide Timetable (26Mar-28Oct) - not the smaller fold-out regional planner which is also available in Australia.

The flight listing for TG982 - the 1620 departure from Mel shows the A340 as being used from 2 Apr to 30 Aug. It then says 'from 1 Sept' 777 CY (this is at the very back of the TT in the flight information and routings section).

The later 0015 departure ex MEL (from SYD) stays as a 747 FCY throughout, as does AKL on an A340 in FCY.
