Yes, the engines run generators as well. However, the generators can produce power once the engine has reached idle speed. They do not need to spin faster than idle to provide power.
This somewhat depends on the aircraft, though. On the ATR72, the engines can supply AC and DC power at idle, but the pitch levers need to be advanced to full pitch before the AC Wild and hydraulics are powered.
Granted that's a turboprob, but it's a bit strange.
