--Elite Nomore--How much more are you paying for the ability to upgrade? If it is only a few hundred dollars more to fly non-stop from JFK to Prague, then it, most likely would be worth the extra $ to upgrade. I would not expect DL BE service and comfort . No doubt, you will be more comfortable in the front of the plane and, best of all, you will avoid a connection in CDG. I have only flown Czech between Paris and Prague. It was not a pleasant experience. Tired planes, indifferent service---Business class has to be better than economy on that transatlantic service, just lower your expectations. Prague is wonderful.
