Could not ascertain which version of the 777 though (ie the one with 2+3+2 or the newer 777-200 with 2+2+2).

I think its the new 777-200ER.

But I remember reading here that the A346s are a temporary measure to fill the void left by the sale of the MD11s, till the B777s arrive as MEL doesnt really need the capacity of the A346s.
