Yes. All the time with no problems. Just put your UA # in the reservation at time of booking.

The only thing is that you can't request free e-upgrades on the US segments with a UA # in the locator if you are also an Elite on US trying to upgrade. If using your UA #, you have to purchase the e-upgrades on the day of departure if you want the miles credited to UA even if you're a US elite.
