Definitely concur that there are no obvious bargains in electronics in Dubai. Especially compared to the US! I have made my share of impulse purchases in duty free but never because of the price. I once even called duty free at DXB (the tel number is on their web site) to price an item and it cost about the same as in South Africa.

Perfume, OTOH, are good value at DXB...
