Correct, web-checkin was originally planned for early 2007, however, due to a number of unknown reasons, the implementation date has been brought forward [Mid-year.. or July as article suggests]

Note that, effective 24 MAY, there will be a B-PAY payment option available on Qantas.com. Also note that this is the day the airline's credit card surcharge changes.
