Has anyone heard if Aeroplan has considered this option around rewarding consistent frequent flyers with lifetime benefits like United or Air France (these are just two I know of).

Its a great incentive to stay with a program to build your miles over time and avoids the frustration of missing a benefit level because of an off year.

I'm considering moving to Mileage Plus (but who thinks United will be around for 8 more years?) so I can take advantage of the accrued lifetime benefit that will come with a million miles of travel.
