Had this happen a few times returning from BKK. Also had a similar incident at TLV and IST.

Reason from BKK (I asked) a ICE agent said they randomly select laptops from BKK for porn (the illegal kind). I jokingly asked what happens with regular porn... She said "nothing, but I sure do have stories."

From TLV I was searched for "fruits and vegetables" in my checked luggage, from IST, ICE wanted to know if my LV luggage was fake (a joke my friends and I share often--I'm a closet LV-lover!)

When talking with the agent from my BKK trip, I asked about confidental files. Apparently ICE can look at a person's confidental business files. I had enquired about people encrypting files. She responded that a large amount of encrypted files can cause some concern. There have been incidents when ICE has snared some child porn peddlers travelling with GIGS of encrypted files. How they were able to see them, I don't know... But I wouldn't lie to these guys...
