Does this work the opposite way?
IE: I (person with status) makes award reservation, person without status provides award certificate to me in my name. I stay at the hotel and check in. Will I get benefits?

Yup. On my award stays for family members, they always get my amenities. Not sure if it's an accident, or stated policy.
