Sorry what suggestions or options - he asked what will they do, they will do nothing, same as if you sleep in, have a flat, forget, arrive too late, etc., it cannot be a special category or everyone will use that excuse to get free changes etc. And given the huge fines for not having the papers in order they certainly won't allow some slip on anyway strategy.
And the idea of having a fiancee and not accompanying her to the point of entry for the first time is a bad idea, not from the INS point of view anyway from hers though for sure. So it's $200, that's life.
