Where in NYC is your company's office? If you're going to be working downon Wall Street, the W Union Square might be a good compromise: you'd be closer to the office than Midtown, and you'd have closer access to the restaurant and nightlife places (if that's important) in the Village and the Meatpacking District.

If you are going to be working further Uptown, I'd be sure to avoid the W at Lex/50th, due to the postage-stamp-size rooms.
