I don't know how anyone can eat any of UA's offerings in Y class, if you get anything. Thee biggest audacity was to start charging for a glass of wine, even on long hauls. I avoid UA all together. Here is what I recommend doing, before entering a long-haul UAL flight:
go find the best DELI you know and have them make you the biggest and nicest sandwich you like, take along some potatoe chips and then take the package on board. I do that a lot when flying out of HKG back to LAX, if I am forced to stay in Y, and then 'unwrap' my sandwich, whichI get from the Deli at the Holiday Inn in Kowloon. Watch your neighbor's eyes!
