Gotto love SQ & UA for liberal carry on policy for its J/F & top tier members ^ ^ ^
SQ is good about it, but I'm not sure where you're getting UA is. UA restricts (as do the other US carriers) carry-ons to 2 pieces. What you get on board with may vary but official policy is 2 pieces.
