The trouble is that 3 of these cars, and a few others, will have to be big muscular V-8s to retain the same appeal. I don't see Mazda rebadging, for example, the RX-8 and successfully passing it off as a Camaro or Firebird. I'd imagine if it's just a clone of an imported car, I'd doubt it'd sell to the "patriotic red, white & blue" crowd (of which I doubt few U.S. FTers are) who'd value these brands. Ford tried replacing the Mustang with the Mazda-designed FWD Probe and that didn't go over too well.
Chrysler has tried reviving muscle car names on what I believe were rebadged Mitsubishis and they were o.k. but didn't sell well. I'd say Chrysler's success with the 300/Magnum/Charger/Challenger comes with selling a good car (based on an older M-B chassis - first U.S. 4-door RWD car with independent suspension?) rather than from ones carrying muscle car names (I like those cars but couldn't care less if they weren't named after their muscle car predecessors.
