TSA agent in MKE reminds ID checker her job is not to bother PAX

IMHO the TSA at MKE has always been a model of how the TSA should run checkpoints; no shoe carnival, no yelling at PAX or treating them like sheep, just efficient screening.

This morning I witness another event that made me appreciate the professionalism of the MKE TSA again.

I was a couple of people behind the ID checker for terminal E around 5:45am this morning. A man approached carrying a cloth sack that held what turned out to be a medium sized African drum - the kind you would hold between your legs while playing. The ID checker refused to let him pass, saying that it wouldn't be allowed. The man tried to calmly explain that it was no larger than a standard carryon suitcase (It wasn't) and he had carried it many times before.

The ID checker then called over the Lead TSA agent, using her best "wait till your father gets home" voice to help her tell this guy off.

The TSA guy takes one look at the drum and asks "What's the problem?" She rolled her eyes and said "I don't think the airline is going to allow that in the cabin, do you?" His response: "That's not our (your ) job, right this way sir."
