Delta publicly announced a few months ago that these old birds were being retired. While taxiing through ATL last week, I was surprised to see one parked at the gate. I was looking for flights from ATL-ROC and found that the 732 was the aircraft on that route.

Does anyone know how/why these things were resurrected? It is not a trivial decision to do so since there are crew training/maintenance issues and I didn't think it was the most economical aircraft from a CSM standpoint.
