The 146/ARJ is one of those 'planes where the operator has the option of 6 tight, or 5 spacious. Many an operator goes for a mix of 2-3 and 3-3.
And let's not even get started on the 787 which will offer a wider cabin than the A340 etc - true but it would seem that most airlines will fit it out 9 abreast which rather defeats the point. Rather like pointing out the 747 is wider than a barbie jet - true enough but rather overlooks the 3 vs 10 seating.
As posted the best seats for a pair on the ARJ/146 when configured 3-3 is either side of the aisle. For an 'couple' with a fetish for elbows in ribs two adjacent seats are ideal.
For a solo traveller, particularly on routes where the read door is used, the '2' of the last row is good.
