GM and Ford aren't going to liquidate, for goodness' sake. They are going to shrink and streamline and acquire more alliance partners. But when the dust settles there will be about six major vehicle manufacturers in the world, and GM and Ford will be part of two of them.
The government will never let either FoMoCo or GM reach Ch. 7.
And even in the highly unlikely chance that both go under, I don't see why any of the imports would be any more expensive.
