For discussion's sake, I'd say 1) Chrysler wouldn't be so pressed to sell large amount of cars at discounted prices if its two major competitors who do the same are gone, and 2) as RustyC mentioned, Japanese cars have higher resale prices precisely because their cars are not sold into fleets, at least in large volume, in N. America.
