Lets see, if you want slides,etc for your daughter then you might want the Grand Wailea. It has nine seperate pools, a million dollar water elevator, a rope swing, and a ton of slides. It can be crazy there with a zillion kids and conventioners, but it would be your best bet if you want a water park atmosphere. The grounds are breathtaking and expansive. The rooms are nice with seperate shower but they do need an overhaul. They are not dumpy by any means but they are a bit tired. Keep in mind that it will be very busy during the summer months. We stayed there last year during a quieter time and really liked it. Some people on tripadvisor.com are sayin it has gone downhill since Hilton took it over. Go to tripadvisor.com. You be the judge.

The Fairmont Kea Lani has a waterslide and an extremely busy pool. Screaming kids all day long. There were so many people at this pool on our last stay that they has to put many loungers on the lawn area around the pool. It does have a seperate living room and bedroom so mom and dad have their own room. I'm sure a 13 year old would love to have his/her own privacy. We don't care for this resort because we don't have children, but families seem to love it. It has become VERY expensive. We used to get great deals here, but supply and demand has caused the prices to go through the roof. It is the noisiest place we have ever stayed at.

The Four Seasons doesn't have any fancy pools, but the service was incredible on our last stay. We hated this resort previously, but it is the best for service out of any of the hotels on the islands. They won us over. It might be too boring for a 13 year old. We saw children while we were there but most were with their nannies or had other friends along. They were well behaved.

The Ritz Carlton is one of our favorite hotels on the islands. It's not really a place for children who want water slides, etc. It is quiet and peaceful up there. The weather can be iffy, but I don't think there will be any problem in the summer months. Think of it as a huge, beautiful and quiet estate. They do have a LOT of conventions there and we all know about how some people at conventions behave. The rooms are decorated elegantly but are a bit tired. The bathroom is beautiful. It's all marble with a seperate shower. They will be doing a renovation next year. We always feel such a sense of peace up there. The staff is the best of anywhere we have ever stayed. If you ask for anything the next thing you know they have what ever it is you need at your room for you. It iss the type of elegance that when you order room service they bring your order with the silver dome over the top of your food. We love it!

The Hyatt Regency in Kaanapali has the waterslide you are looking for. It's a large pool with lots of chairs around it. We hate that the chairs have you packed in like sardines. We will be staying there again this fall. The service is wonderful. Our room was kept very clean, the food is great and we love all the animals they have around the very expansive grounds. The grounds are so lovely. They have flamingo's, penguins and exotic birds who talk. This is the most elegant hotel on the Kaanapali strip. The beach is awful but if you walk up a little way you can find a nice sandy stretch. We got a great deal for a deluxe ocean view room on luxury link. We booked it al a carte and for seven nights we got it for 2700.00.

The Westin Maui has great pools and a water slide, but it is a smaller resort. It is basically all pool area. It has five pools including an adult pool. Because the grounds are all pool it seems very crowded there all the time. The summer time is the worst. They seem to have huge service issues during the busier months. The rooms were remodeled in 2000-2001. We have only stayed once, since in 2004 and the rooms were still in good shape then. Make sure you book a room in the BEACH TOWER. They are 25% bigger and have a closet. The ocean tower rooms are quite small and don't have a closet. They will bring you up a close rack but I really think that is quite tacky!

I have stayed at all the hotels mentioned above more than once. I can't tell you about any others because I would ony be telling you on heresay. I hope this helps.
