I have managed to keep them corresponding at this time via email. Here is a continuation of the thread. (read from bottom up) I got tired of XXXXXing my name out so now you all know who I am.

Dear Delta;

The point you continually seem to miss as you point out how much easier it will be to gain elite status is that the elite status benefits are being diluted to the extent that the elite status is fast becoming irrelevent.

After 2003 a Platinum Medallion Member will not receive unlimeted upgrades. Many fares will not allow for upgrade at time of booking. Segment upgrade qualifications increase in price and have less value per segment. It seems that a Platinum Member benefit is being changed to something like an old gold memebership with increased requirements for upgrades.

Qualification to a title is meaningless if the benefits do not exist at that specific level.

P.S. A copy of this will be mailed to the address you provided. For the life of me, I can't figure out why you will require a second copy.

Dear Mr. Gielen,

Thank you again for taking the time to write concerning the recent
changes to our SkyMiles Medallion program. Your concern about the
direction of the program and what it means to you as a member is
appreciated.

Please know that we have been studying the Medallion qualification and
upgrade processes for some time, and that customer loyalty and fiscally
sound operations are more important than ever in todays airline
environment. After careful analysis of the possible outcomes and
opportunities, we feel confident that the new program guidelines will
foster a better and more sustainable loyalty program for our members
and our airline over time. They are designed to identify our best
customers and reward them with a quicker path to Medallion status.
And, the changes will help Delta receive more value for the limited
premium cabin seats that are so very much in demand.

Your Million Miler status will still earn you the specified Medallion
status on an ongoing basis. We are not revoking your lifetime status,
the wording has just been changed.

Your business is important to Delta, and we hope that you will consider
transitioning with us to this new program. As we have stated earlier,
most customers can maintain their existing Medallion status by making
some minor adjustments, such as purchasing some higher fare classes,
consolidating more travel with us or choosing more long-haul trips.

If you have any additional concerns, please forward your comments to
the address provided in the last e-mail.

We appreciate your input and your care for Deltas SkyMiles program.

Sincerely,

Patricia Happel
