Slippery when wet...

Just an FYI on the fountain... don't let DougC jr. run up and stand too close to the fountain. Most children (and even some adults) don't realize that the water runs over the lip and down the curved sides of the fountain. Normally a fountain would have a dry side/edge to lean against as you look at the fountain... not this one. Also, sticking a finger in the water spilling over the side will result in the water running down the finger and potentially the arm of the finger sticker... getting shirt sleeve and potentially the shirt of finger sticker quite wet.

Even though I had been through DTW countless times, the first time with infinityplusone jr 01, it just slipped my mind as he walked up and put both hands on the edge of the fountain and water gracefully flowed down his hands, his arms and then his legs to quickly collect in a reflecting pool around him. It was just too beatiful!

If we have enough time our two little ones enjoy the tunnel and walking on the moving sidewalks (from A-B-A). If we don't have enough time they enjoy the play areas and/or throwing a few pennies into the fountain or at passing pax, which is always great fun to hit one in the eye.
(just kidding - the two ipo jr's are very well behaved, really they are, really pure angels!!).

If you haven't yet checked it out, the Travel with Children forum has some good pointers on travelling with little ones (gags, restraints, copious amounts of drugs for both you and the little one... bring enough to share with your fellow pax). Also be sure to bring some legos for your little one to play with on the plane, bring at least enough to keep them entertained while on the flight, even if it is short 45 minute hop). If the little one has a poo be sure to either change them on the tray table at your seat and/or ask your seatmate(s) to help you out by holding the poo diaper, they will love being involved in the parenting role, even if vicariously for a brief few moments... they will remember it for a lifetime.

And most of all have fun introducing the little one to the joys of air travel!!
