May 1 - KGO - It's going to be ugly and it will test your patience, but Caltrans says a new round of Bay Bridge closures are a must. It's all part of the ongoing seismic retrofit and rebuilding project.

A section of the upper deck of the Bay Bridge has to be demolished and rebuilt. During that time, upper deck traffic will be going around it. Overnight for two weekends in June, the lower deck will be closed to all traffic.

The Bay Bridge lower deck will be closed the first two weekends in June overnight only, from midnight to 10 am. During the day, the Essex and First Street on-ramps will be closed.
