Chiming in with another data point in agreement with the previous two posters. A scale whose lowest point is "I wouldn't pay anything for it" only reflects half of the attitude spectrum.

While I may have been guilty of hyperbole in an earlier post in threatening to inflict bodily harm on anyone who used a phone in my vicinity on a plane (at least one FTer thought I was serious!) I really hope this doesn't come to pass. Look at the popularity of the Quiet Zone in the Heathrow Express. That approach will work on a train, but a no-phone zone on an airplane is about as useful as a no-urinating zone in a swimming pool. If this comes to pass and I'm given the option of a no-phone flight on a comparable schedule for a reasonable surcharge (perhaps reflecting the profit the airline could otherwise make from people placing and taking calls), I'll jump at the chance.
