Transfer from Mumbai domestic airport was hectic, a big trafficjam was on the road before the airport. Hotel car was comfortable.
Check-in was friendly and fast. The elevator took us in a few seconds to the higher tower floors. The room was comfortable with all the luxury of a 5* hotel. Interior was beautiful. Coffee maker is available in the refreshment centre.
Bathroom was comfortable, with a luxurious bathtub, fluffy towels and the same Ayurvedic bath products.
I did experienced a lack of an “Indian touch” in the interior of the room however.
A butler is available on the towerfloors.
Since the tower rooms are located on the high floors, the view is great. I was lucky to have such an unspoiled view, since next to the hotel another high rising building is build….
Breakfast is not served in the lounge, so one has to go to the main restaurant. Breakfast is very sumptuous, with Continental, American and of course Indian breakfast. I experienced the Indian breakfast as very spicy. Service is perfect and friendly here. Though the coffee is more or less American style, you can always ask for a stronger one, they service it with a smile.
The china could be more stylish in my opinion.
The rooftoplounge, Point of View, is wonderful. The interior is beautiful and with a high ceiling. There is a second floor with balcony. In the evening a musician is playing the accordion. It was nice to hear him playing Tulpen uit Amsterdam!
The lounge has a lot of seating areas with 2 flatsquare tv’s. It has a large bar where they serve nice drinks.
On both sides of the lounge is a terrace where you can have a drink or some food. It is really to have some sun here too! The view from here is astonishing!
In the evening they serve some snacks and toasts. Service is friendly and perfect. Sometimes however service appears to be slow. The Indian wine they are serving here is of a good quality.
There are several restaurants in the hotel, though I was eager to try the Indian restaurant I was advised to take the buffet in the main restaurant.
The waiter in the Lounge made reservations for me. It was busy in the buffet restaurant. Personnel is very friendly and helpful.
The buffet was large and one could take selections of western and Indian food. Quality was a somewhat a disappointment, the food could by far not reach the same quality of the food in the Sheraton Maurya. In my experience most of the guest appeared to be more aware of the quantity instead of the quality, looking at the piles of food they were taken away.
The fitness of the hotel is nice and offers modern machines. The large swimming pool is for one part open air, the other part of it is indoors. In front of the swimming pool is a small terrace with sun beds.
The SPA of the hotel appeared to be quite famous for their treatment. Being in India, I wanted a Ayurvedic treatment. Since they could not offer it they adviced me to go to the other Starwood Sheraton hotel near the airport. They arranged an appointment for me and told me the hotel was not so far away. The SPA in the ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton Hotel & Towers is wonderful. It was very busy here. The Ayurvedic treatment with two therapists appeared to be very good.
For transportation I used the Travelhouse, the traveldesk of the ITT Sheraton hotels in India. I booked my private tours here. The tours were quite nice.
I used the hotel cars for transportation also of Travelhouse.
One word of warning, ask the concierge to write down the rate for the trip. I was charged relatively high for my trip to the other Sheraton hotel for the Ayurvedic treatment, which I took on advice of the SPA. Only after a discussion with a divisions supervisor of the hotel, when I was checking out, we came to an agreement.
Would I come back here? Most certainly! This hotel is very comfortable, offers luxurious accommodations, beautiful lounges, a great Spa & fitness, different restaurants, has a great location and the friendly service made me feel at home.
