Given the rules, (and notwithstanding the history of the debate) then the HKG-JFK flight would seem to be out. I was thinking the CX YVR-JFK flight could be an acceptable subsititute, given QF's new service to YVR (albeit incompatible with beginning MCO-LAX.) Of course, if it can be ticketed, then it's possible.
