Amusing Captain on AA 1113 BOS-DFW 16th April ( on the MD 80 Scooter)
Hi,
Flying on the above flight we had an amusing captain who occasionaly came on the pa and entertained the cabin with various quips ( kept referring to the MD 80 as the Scooter(. Some of them were;
(1) Prior to push back: " We do not have any IFE on this scooter but the cabin crew love to sing from musicals from the 60's so please give them your request with your drink order and they will perform for you!. The First class FA whispered to us " I will kill him for that!!" in an amusing tone
(2) At the runway " We have done the hardest part- pushed back and taxied to rwy 22R. Now all we have to do is get 148000lbs of aluminum , rivets and us airborne.
(3) En route over West Virginia " If you look below you will see thousands of people on the gorund wishing they were up here flying the scooter so please gibe them a wave"
(4) At the start of the descent " We have started our re-entry into the earth's atmosphere for landing at DFW"
(5) Prior to landing " Thanks for flying. If oyu have enjoyed the flight please tell your friends and familiy. If they get bored then accost a stranger in the car park and tell them you flew the Scooter to DFW!!"
One of the most amusing captians I have had on all airlines in my travels and kept us entertained.
Also spend the flight talking with my seat companion ( I was in 3A and he was in 3B)- he was goting to attend a training course for AA pilots in DFW for several days so we talked about AA and the airline industry in general for a while.
Although I was at the front by the time breakfast orders were taken there was 1 Quesquidilla and cereal left. I offered the quesquidilla to my seat mate but he was happy with the cereal and I took the quesquidilla ( sp)- very good byt the ceral ( special k) looked fine also.
Regards
