I remember them holding back at least 2 seats for revenue F, no matter the circumstances, up to the 2-hour window.
They could certainly hold back more on certain routes and times, particularly routes with a lot of YUP type fares for sale. I expect LAX-DFW would fit that bill, with one YUP fare booking into P and another that books into A.
