No comparison. If AA wants to double fares, maybe they can offer that type of service and amenities, but they're competing against the Southwest model, not the Cathay model.
Even if AA did double their fares, where would AA find the employees in the U.S. who are willing or able to be as hospitable as those found at the better Asian airlines, such as JL and SQ.
The inflight service crew found on these Asian airlines have a deeply ingrained sense of warmth and attentiveness that simply cannot be taught.
Even at the finest hotels here in the US, such as the Peninsula BH, ORD or the Four Seasons, the staff are just not the same as those found as the five star properties in Asia such as the Peninsula HKG or BKK, or even at the four star properties such as the Conrad HKG, SIN, BKK.
