India is easy to get into. Make sure you have a visa and the address to the hotel you'll be staying at and you'll be fine.

be prepared for the shock of people at the airport, beggars, thieves and greeters for their families. arrange for transportation to wait for you when you arrive (usually done by your hotel) and you'll be fine.

road transportation in india isn't for the faint of heart.

The domestic airlines, especially jet are wonderful. First class is cheap and totally worth it.

If you get a chance to stay at any of the oberoi hotels, consider it. Expensive but very nice.
