Thanks, again. $100 for 5K of redeemable miles is not outrageous (2 cpm), but not cheap either, at least not in my book. So if the last 10K of "free" enrollment miles comes only with a balance transfer that carries a substantial fee of its own, then not of interest to me. (I have never done a balance transfer with any card, but I believe that some have offered truly free balance transfers, with the added benefit of remaining interest free for some time after the transfer too.) Will see if I can find that "BofA fights back" thread, since it sounds very much on point, and I very much like the idea of competition forcing banks to compete for our business.
